The Center for K9 Excellence is located in West Jefferson, Ashe County, NC. It is in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, part of the larger Appalachian Mountain range.  Starting at its southernmost portion in Georgia, then ending northward in Pennsylvania. The Blue Ridge Mountains are noted for having a bluish color when seen from a distance. Trees put the "blue" in Blue Ridge, from the isoprene released into the atmosphere, thereby contributing to the characteristic haze on the mountains and their distinctive color.

Our Center for K9 Excellence is aptly named. We strive to see each dog and puppy reach their full potential and excel as a beloved family member, and for some, a competitive sports dog.

Our facility is comprised of three areas:

The Training Ring - Our 130" X 80" fenced ring provides ample space for group classes, and when appropriate for the dog, off-leash training.

The Dog House - This 1200 square foot heated and air conditioned 3 bedroom home is our base of operations. We conduct orientations for group training classes there. It is also our meeting place for private training sessions. And, this is where our Home Stay Board and Train dogs stay. Your dog can't learn how to behave in a home if he is housed in a kennel!

The Trails - Sometimes everyone needs to relax and decompress. We have 15 mountainous acres with multiple trails. As part of your training program with us, we may conduct some of your lessons on our trails.

Marge and Lisa are excited to announce that the Dog House will also  be used for Nose Work and other training seminars. Dog owners and families may rent the Doghouse and experience private training with Marge or Lisa, and also enjoy their time here in the mountains.
